Intro Again

Not sure how many of you are still out there, but I thought it was worth mentioning that we are starting Intro again tomorrow. We recently had to take a 10 day trip to CA for my grandmother's funeral. Between the stress of the trip, being exposed to lots of different detergents in beds at Grandma's, hotels, etc., and eating out (even though we did the best we could with food choices), Audrey is about as bad off with her eczema as she's ever been. Again.

I have to say this is incredibly discouraging to me. I hoped I would never have to see my baby like this again. However, I am grateful that I know what will calm her system down again.

I am now about 6 months pregnant and will be modifying the diet as needed for myself, but I have been hitting the fruit too hard again anyway, and need to cut it out! We all could do with another round of intro, so...we're doing it.

Hopefully we'll move quickly.

  1. Hi there! I almost died from an anaphylactic shock 30 months back. The cause of it was salicylates. And for 30 months now, I have not eaten any 'outside' food. I have been cooking and baking and making all of my food from scratch. Bread, cookies, cake, even dumpling skins and pastries. Anything which has additives, flavourings, colourings, preservatives, chemicals, MSG will trigger another attack.

Allow me to share my story:

  2. Hi Evelyn,
Wow, you have quite a story! Sounds like the GAPS diet might really help you as well!

  3. Did the GAPS diet ever resolve the salicylate issue? My 2 year old is salicylate sensitive, and I have been wanting to try the GAPS diet for her and for my stomach issues from Celiac. It is so hard to find consistent information about salicylates. I found your blog through a Google search and am very iterested to find out how the GAPS diet woeked for you!

  4. I'm not exactly sure how to answer this question! Audrey still has occasional flareups of red splotches on her face, but they are rare. She can tolerate small amounts of tomato now, which is huge for her. She itches when she gets anxious or upset now, so her eczema is still healing, but I think we're on the right track. Broth was a big help.

  5. Did you do a low sal GAPS diet or include high sal foods? Thanks for your input! I'm glad you have found a little improvement.

  6. Prior to gaps, I had her completely off all high Sal foods, but she was pale and thin so I'm not sure it helped. She just didn't itch as much. In doing gaps, I started actually allowing her a small amount each day, not overdoing it, but starting somewhere. It was too restrictive otherwise, I felt. The first time she had soup with cumin, she could not stop talking about how good it tasted! And she did flare up a bit, but I was ready to move away from where we were, restricting everything, even with some flare-ups. I'm pretty sure she had bad Candida, and that was/is causing most of her problems, and what improved the most on gaps.
